A man is fighting for his life after being found unconscious in Derry at the weekend.
Police in the city are trying to establish how the man in his mid 50s sustained serious head injuries.
The ambulance service was called to Lower Bennett Street where the man had been found unconscious at around 10.30pm on Sunday.
He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital and later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where, according to a PSNI spokesperson, he has remained unconscious.
The spokesperson asked anyone with information to contact the CID at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting reference number 294 23/04/14.
