STUTE GO INTO LAST LEAGUE GAME OF SEASON STILL IN TITLE CHASE

Institute manager Paul Kee.

Institute go into this afternoon’s final league game of the season against Limavady United at Drumahoe in the knowledge that if they avoid defeat they could be crowned Championship champions and gain automatic promotion to the Premiership.

However, if that is to happen Paul Kee’s side need league leaders Bangor to lose their home tie against sixth-placed Harland & Wolff Welders.

Institute are a point behind the Seasiders and with a far superior goal difference a draw would be good enough to clinch the title should the Welders pull off a shock result.

Paul Kee’s side are hot favourites to defeat Limavady who are anchored at the bottom of the league and who Stute defeated 5-0 at the Showgrounds earlier this season.

However, Kee will not be taking today’s opponents for granted and will have drilled into his players they cannot show complacency if they want to have any chance of winning the title and, more importantly, automatic promotion.

If Stute fail to win the title, they will get a second bite of the cherry at gaining promotion as they have already secured a play-off with Ards who have been relegated from the Premiership.
