The theft of tools and machinery from Derry City Cemetery has been condemned by Sinn Fein local election candidate Liam Friel.
An Allen walk-behind mower, five Tanaka strimmers, two Stihl blowers and a Dolmar blower were taken from a work hut and machinery store between 4.00pm on Saturday last and 8.00am today.
Condemning the theft, Mr Friel said it was a “sad day” when criminals are targeted buildings within the confines of the City Cemetery.
He added: I would urge anyone who is offered tools or machinery at less than their value or in suspicious circumstances to contact the PSNI straight away.”
Mr Friel concluded: “It should also be pointed out that those who buy stolen goods could be leaving themselves open to criminal charges.”
