Derry is set to bask in glorious sunshine and temperatures of up to 23C next week, forecasters say.
The Met Office and independent forecasters predict a cooler Friday and Saturday at the end of this week will be followed by a steady rise to “above average” temperatures early next week.
Then warm weather from southern Europe will cover the whole of the country bringing temperatures even higher and lasting for up to a week.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week look set to see the best of the weather.
The Met Office says most areas will be fine and dry with sunny spells this Saturday, although there may turn cloudier with patchy rain on Sunday.
The mainly settled conditions will persist through the early part of next week, with temperatures rising above average.
A Met Office spokesperson said the “most likely scenario” for the following week (beginning 12 May) was for conditions to be “fairly typical” for the time of year.
The spokesperson added: “As such there are likely to be periods of fine and dry weather, interspersed with occasional more unsettled spells with rain or showers. By day temperatures are most likely to be near or just above average.”
