Funding of £210,000 has been confirmed for the upgrade of footpaths and roads in Lone Moor Road and Stanley’s Walk areas of Derry.
Confirming the investment by the Northern Ireland Executive and the Department of Social Development, Minister Nelson McCausland said the work would begin this month and take six weeks to complete.
Explaining the need for the scheme the Minister said: “While the Lone Moor Road is an important arterial route linking the Letterkenny Road to the rest of the city, it is visually unattractive and the streetscapes are clearly in need of repair.
“These works will make the area more user friendly particularly for people with disabilities.
“This work will build on the projects already completed by my Department in partnership with the Department for Regional Development including the upgrade of the Lecky Road Flyover and Rossville Street.”
Roads Minister Danny Kennedy said temporary traffic management arrangements would be required.
He added: “I would ask for the patience and co-operation of both residents and road users for the duration of this work.”
