Finn Harps run of bad luck continued last night as they were knocked out of EA Sports Cup by Galway FC.
Vinny Faherty’s eighth minute tap-in, after a Jake Keegan shot came back off the woodwork, was the difference between the sides at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Ollie Horgan can take some solace from the displays of several of his players however, not least James Doherty who had a man of the match performance for the Donegal visitors.
He could have equalised in the 43rd minute but his well struck shot went wide.
Josh Mailey had Galway keeper Ger Hanley beaten 13 minutes earlier, but the post denied Harps a deserved equaliser.
Carol Tiofack was later denied a clear free-kick after a blatant foul on the edge of the box so Harps were denied any chance of a lifeline; McVeigh also missing a late late chance of an equaliser.
