Derry City Council has been called on to ensure appropriate levels of street cleaning are available in the Ballymagroarty area of the city.
The call comes from Sinn Féin Cllr Eric McGinley who was speaking after a recent site meeting in Ballymagroarty with Council staff and community workers at which he highlighted the concerns of residents over the condition of roads, footpaths and walkways across the estate.
Cllr McGinley said: “Whilst there is an acknowledgement that Derry City Council does not have sole responsibility for street cleaning I highlighted the need for adequate resources to be made available to ensure the estate is kept at an acceptable level of cleanliness.”
He concluded: “Residents of Ballymagroarty are entitled to a first class cleansing service and I will be working with Council staff to ensure that adequate resources are in place to deliver on this objective.”
