Derry City take on Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division at Brandywell boosted by last Monday’s 1-0 away win over Sligo Rovers in the EA Sports Cup (kick off 7.45pm).
However, the Candystripes will be without the services of goalscorer Rory Patterson, who misses tonight’s clash as a result of his straight red card he received in the 1-1 draw with Bohemians on Friday night last.
Derry opened their current league campaign away to Rovers and were unfortunate not to come away with all three points – a late, late equaliser for the home side denying Roddy Collins side what would have been a fully deserved victory.
Since then, Rovers have won six, drawn one and lost two of their nine league games, and are just a point behind joint league leaders Cork City and defending champions St Patrick’s Athletic.
Derry, on the other hand, have won two, drawn seven and lost two of their ten games and find themselves well off the pace in mid-table.
