A meeting of the Child Poverty Forum has been hosted by Derry MLA, Maeve McLaughlin, the chairperson of the Stormont Health Committee.
The Sinn Fein representative initiated the forum last year following the release of child poverty statistics for Derry.
The meeting was the latest in which the Forum discussed potential solutions to some of the child poverty problems.
The meeting, the latest in which the Forum discussed potential solutions to some of the child poverty problems, discussed early intervention for children and their families and the work of the city’s Early Intervention Partnership which had come out of the One Plan as well as the on-going work in the Child Friendly City initiative.
Ms McLaughlin said: “There was further discussion of local delivery of OFMdFM’s (Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister) Delivering Social Change.”
She concluded: To date the Forum has primarily focused on early intervention but in future meetings the scope will widen to look at other ways to address the persistent and complex problem of child poverty.”
