Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given will be in Derry later this month to launch this year’s Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup youth football tournament.
The Lifford man, interim assistant to current Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert, will be the guest of honour at the launch at the City Hotel in the City Hotel on Monday, 26 May.
This year’s tournament – taking place from 21 – 26 July – has attracted over 200 teams who will compete in a number of categories and see Derry host thousands of visitors during the course of the competition.
Teams from throughout Ireland and overseas will compete in the tournament which this year will feature two new age groups – under 12 and 14 girls.
Matches will played throughout the North West – Derry, Limavady, Strabane, Dungiven, Killea, Greysteel, Buncrana, Moville, Cockhill, Greencastle, St Johnstone.
