Eoin Bradley’s career as a county GAA footballer appears to be over after manager Brian McIver confirmed he would not be joining the Derry panel for the Ulster Senior Football Championship.
Bradley missed all of Derry’s McKenna Cup and National League campaigns because of his soccer commitments with Coleraine FC and last week signed a two-year contract with the Irish League club earlier this month.
At the start of the year the Glenullin forward, who was playing soccer on a Saturday and Gaelic football on Sunday, had been told by McIver to make a choice between both.
Despite choosing to continue turning out for Coleraine, he was hopeful he would have been included the Ulster Championship.
Derry face Donegal in the quarter-final at Celtic Park next Sunday.
However, McIver has said he would not be returning to the panel.
“Eoin has signed a two-year contract with Glenavon and I think the soccer went better for him than he envisaged being the case,” said McIver.
“To be fair to him I think he, and myself, thought he would play a bit of soccer over the winter and then return to the Gaelic but it went very well for him.
“It was always going to come down to whatever he was doing next year and once he signed for Glenavon that more or less drew a line underneath that.
“Eoin and me have discussed this. All I can do is wish him the best of luck on that.”
