Several hundred people took part in a parade in Derry yesterday to remember the ten IRA/INLA hunger strikers who died in Long Kesh in 1981.
Organised by the Republican Socialist Movement, the parade was headed by flag-bearers dressed in black and wearing black berets and dark glasses.
There was a small police presence as the parade, accompanied by two bands, made its way from Brooke Park car park in the Rosemount area to the City Cemetery.
Two INLA members from Derry were among those who died on hunger strike.
Patsy O’Hara died on 21 May, 1981, 61 days after joining the protest.
Michael Devine died on 20 August the same year.
The last of the hunger strikers to die, he had joined the protest 60 days earlier.
