Brian Long (5) won the Lee Hogg Bowl at City of Derry Golf Club yesterday with a superbly compiled 70 nett, playing from the back sticks, a real test of golf with only 40 per cent of the players completing their round without a blank.
Brian, in fac,t had the equal best gross with Kevin Quigg (3), both players scoring 75 shots with Kevin taking that honour with a terrific 33 strokes on the back nine.
Graham Hepburn (5) joined his Irish Junior Cup team mate on the podium, taking second place on 71 nett on a count back.
Colm Murphy (18) took third spot with another tie breaking 71.
Triple Tie Break Decides Thursday Open Winner
Iain Anthony (6) was best of three players on 39 points in the weekly Thursday Open at Prehen, carding 23 of them on the back nine to finish a point ahead of up and coming Campbell Jackson (18) on that vital second nine.
Campbell will be ruing the double bogey six he took on the last.
Graham Robb (6) returned to the podium once more with his 39 points and third place.
Paul McGuigan (1) was best of the low men recording 36 points and Paul Starrett (4) from North West took home the visitors prize.
