Funding in excess of a quarter of a million pounds has been announced for refurbishment works at the Old Library Trust Healthy Living Centre in Derry.
Almost £260,000 has been announced by Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland, for the development of a new Health & Wellbeing Suite at the Centre located at Central Drive in Creggan.
Seamas Heaney, project director for the Old Library Trust, has welcomed the £259,193 funding.
He said the new Health and Wellbeing Suite would provide an additional fitness studio and refit two existing internal spaces to accommodate improved physical activity service and programme delivery.
He added: “The new extension will provide space and specialist equipment supporting delivery of a range of health and physical activity programmes meeting the physical, social, cultural and mental health needs of Triax residents.”
The project is scheduled to be completed before the end of March next year.
