A Derry man has been given a conditional discharge for claiming over £13,000 in benefits he was not entitled to.
Daniel Clifford (54), of Chamberlain Street, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £13,471 while failing to declare capital.
He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £58 at Derry Magistrates Court.
At the same court, Eamon Nash (28), of Adair Street, was also given a two year conditional discharge for wrongful encashment of Income Support totalling £164.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
