Shantallow Community Residents’ Association (SCRA) in Derry is to benefit from a £133,700 investment by the Department of Social Development, it has been announced.
SCRA provides a long established range of services for local residents of all ages, such as after school clubs, women’s groups and community clean-ups.
The investment will enable the association to expand their services for the communities across the Outer North and Outer West Neighbourhood Renewal Areas.
Enhanced services will include programmes like the residents’ maintenance toolkit, winter support and improvement schemes.
Announcing the funding, Social Development Minister McCausland said the SCRA delivered “vital services” to the people of the local area and the funding would allow the organisation to expand its services for the most vulnerable members of society.
He added: “This investment of £133,700 is a clear example of the Executive working to deliver for our most disadvantaged local communities.
“It will enable the Association to support vulnerable households, who are currently struggling to maintain their home and garden, to create and sustain a safe and good quality home environment.”
