The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been commended for its quick response in covering up two uncovered drains in Strabane.
Sinn Fein Cllr Karina Carlin said the move has prevented serious injury.
Cllr Carlin had raised concerns about the potential dangers posed by two uncovered drains in Springhill Park in the town.
She said: “These two drains with their covers removed were in a dangerous state especially given the fact that they were located close to the children’s play and beside pensioners’ bungalows.
“Following my approaches to NI Water and NIHE the holes have been filled in to prevent serious injury.
“I have to commend NIHEs speedy response to this problem.”
She concluded: “Hazards like this can be highlighted to us by residents in order to ensure prompt action by the statutory agencies.”
