Funding of £24,450 has been awarded Creggan Enterprises Ltd by the Department of Social Development to carry out a series of improvements in the Ráth Mór Retail and Business Park in Derry.
The business park consists of 17 units, providing office, workshop space, storage and business space for local and community enterprises.
The planned improvements will include the refurbishment, repairs and improved signage of several of the units and the car park area.
Conal McFeely, manager, Ráth Mór Centre & Business Park said the funding would help Creggan Enterprises overcome “barriers of economic exclusion and urban decline” by enhancing a local enterprise infrastructure.
He added: “It will allow us to maintain a positive gateway to the services that meet local need, based at Ráth Mór.
“The £24,450 grant from the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund will enable us to instigate refurbishment, repairs, improved signage and upgraded car-parking facilities, thereby creating a more attractive, safe and sustainable environment for local businesses and centre users.”
Announcing the funding, Regional Development Minister Nelson McCausland it would be used to ensure the business park remained a “sustainable environment” for local and community enterprises.
He added: “The business park and units will receive much needed maintenance and repair works, providing a facelift to a number of units through new signage and paintwork.
“This new welcoming environment the will promote increased economic activity in this Neighbourhood Renewal Area.”
Mr McCausland concluded: “These local enterprises are vital resources for the local community, providing jobs, support and training for local residents.”
