One of Derry’s best known freelance press photographer has scooped a top accolade at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Margaret McLaughlin received the award at the N-IPPA (Northern Ireland Press Photographers Assocation) awards gala held in the Hilton Hotel, Belfast.
Her winning entry, “Weathering Defeat” in the “Sports Feature” category was shot at Celtic Park in January last year following Derry’s McKenna Cup game with Antrim.
The photo shows the Antrim team huddled in a corner of rainswept Celtic Park.
After being eight points down in the game, Derry fought back to earn a draw on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-13.
