Construction work is due to start this month on a scheme to complete the cycle path link on the A31 from Magherafelt to Castledawson roundabout in Co. Derry.
The scheme will see the construction of some 740 metres of cyclepath from Old Magherafelt Road junction to connect to Castledawson roundabout and the busy bus stop.
The complete scheme will provide two kilometres of cycle path and improved pedestrian facilities
Announcing £100,000 for the scheme, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said it wold create a “safer and more pleasant” environment for cyclists.
He added: “It also shows my Department’s commitment to supporting and providing improved facilities for cyclists.”
The work is expected to take six weeks to complete.
Motorists are advised to expect short delays and should allow additional time when planning their journey.
