Twenty-four civil service jobs are to be transferred to Ebrington in Derry, Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has announced.
They are among 94 posts being relocated to the North West – the other 70 are going to Coleraine.
The Derry jobs will see Department of the Environment (DOE) planning posts relocated from Belfast and will include posts of chief planner, DOE Marine Division and posts from the Minister’s private office.
Over 300 DVA jobs throughout the North, primarily in Coleraine, will be lost when motor tax services move to Swansea next month.
Mr Durkan said: “The loss of hundreds of DVA jobs is a devastating blow to the hard working people affected and their families.
“I am mindful of the economy in Coleraine and further afield that has been affected by the job losses.
“To that end, I am arranging to relocate 24 posts from DOE Planning, including the chief planner, DOE Marine Division, and some posts from my own Private Office to Ebrington Barracks in Derry.
“Some of the posts in Derry will be suitable redeployment opportunities for surplus DVA staff.”
