The InterAct Youth Arts Festival is back, and this time there’s twice as much to enjoy in a spectacular two week programme.
With double the workshops, double the performances and double the masterclasses, the festival promises to be a double celebration of the talent, diversity, commitment and creativity of Derry youth.
Renowned in the North West for its astounding array of free summer activities, InterAct is a unique festival created by youth for youth.
Spearheaded by the Youth Forum – a proactive group of teens that works tirelessly to plan and programme the events – InterAct is on the cutting edge of young people’s skills development and entertainment.
This year, InterAct reflecting on different sides of the creative mind.
“Side A” of their cassette tape concept festival – running from the 28 June to 5 July next – includes courses for those “Born to Create.”
Participants can create stories, create the news, create multi-media art, create fine art, create characters, create costumes, create photographs, and even create their own track.
“Side B” – running from 23 to 30 August – includes courses for those “Born to Perform.”
Participants can perform as DJs, perform as street dancers, perform as TV writers, perform as actors, perform as drummers, perform as singers, and finally perform as a rock band!
Working with such renowned figures as West End performer Fra Fee, local star of The Voice Ben Kelly, acclaimed director Caitriona McLaughlin and 6 Degrees writer Colin O’Donnell, young people will get an inside perspective on the creative industries.
The festival will culminate with a spectacular showcase on Saturday, 30 August.
Supporting The Clameens, participants will have the opportunity to discover, develop and platform their talents.
