Work on a £170,000 major resurfacing scheme on Barrack Street in Strabane is scheduled to begin next month, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced.
The improvements will take place between the street’s junction at the Bowling Green and extend to its junction at Newtownkennedy Street and see it closed to through traffic.
The scheme involves resurfacing footways, carriageways, and provision of a Safer Routes to School scheme for both Barrack Street Primary School and St Anne’s Primary School.
The work is part of the Neighbourhood Renewal initiative, funded by the Department for Social Development.
Mr Kennedy said the scheme would improve the quality of Barrack Street and enhance the safety for all who use this route to access the primary schools, or travel into Strabane town centre.
