A Derry man is in custody awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a number of terrorist charges.
Barry Kevin Concannon, of Beechwood Avenue in the city, admitted seven offences, including having a bomb-making “cookbook,” when he appeared at Belfast Crown Court.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing an explosive substances and having Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate (PETN), aluminium granules, magnesium ribbon and metal springs with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.
He also admitted having a firearm, namely a magazine, in suspicious circumstances; possession of explosives, namely blank cartridges, in suspicious circumstances; possession of information or documents likely to be of use in terrorism, namely the Anarchist’s Cookbook, and also possessing articles for use in terrorism (a deactiviated sub-machine gun, a set of number plates, smoke cannisters and also a thunder flash.)
He admitted a further charge of collecting or making records of information likely to be of use in terrorism on dates between October 25 and 28, 2012 (images of Merseyside Police Headquarters in Liverpool).
He had initially denied the charges but pleaded guilty to seven when he asked to be re-arraigned.
Concannon was remanded in custody for sentencing in September.
