A man has been pronounced dead at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry after getting into difficulty while diving of the Inishowen coast.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was among a group of divers in the water approximately four nautical miles off Malin Head.
After being brought to the surface, he was rushed by an Irsh Coastguard helicopter to Altnagelvin Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post-mortem is due to be carried out.
The man’s will not be made pubic until all his relatives have been informed.
