Four Derry community organisations, which provide a wide range of services for all age groups, are among 70 groups in Northern Ireland sharing in a grants windfall of £592,282 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.
The four Derry groups will share £30,000 funding.
The Rosemount and District Welfare Rights Group will use a grant of £9,604 for the Growing Together project to create a community garden and allotments.
The Waterside Neighbourhood Partnership has been allocated £9,909 and will use the grant to develop the Spring into Action project which will provide a week of events to bring the local community together.
Something Special, which provides educational programmes for young people and adults with learning disabilities, has been awarded £8,210 for its Tuned In Project tolset up and run an internet radio station for the young people.
Learmount Community Development Group, which supports and develops the Learmount community through voluntary action, will use a grant of £2,537 to provide a summer scheme and outings for children and young people living in Park village and surrounding areas.
