The annual Eamon (Bronco) Bradley/Seamus Heaney Summer Cup competition will kick off this year on Thursday, 10 July next.
Eight teams have been invited to compete in the tournament held in the Shantallow area of Derry in memory in memory of Eamon (Bronco) Bradley and Denis Heaney.
The competition carries a prize fund of £1,000 and is open to all players.
Speaking at the launch of this year’s competition, Martin McGilloway, organiser, said committee would like to thank Martin Sheehan of the Celtic Bar for the sponsorship of the competition and that letters of invite had been sent out.
He added: “The crowds that regularly turn up at the Leafair pitches shows that this competition can still pull big attendances and this year will be no different.”
Peter McDonald, of the Leafair Community Association and the manager of Leafair 3G pitches, has welcomed this year’s tournament.
He said: “The competition over the last years has seen some great players.
“The likes of James McClean and Paddy McCourt have been amongst who regularly played in the tournament.”
The final will take place on Friday, 25 July.
