A commitment from the Housing Executive to clean up and undertake remedial work to enhance the alley way linking Brigade Terrace and Upper Main Street in Strabane has been welcomed by Sinn Fein Cllr Carina Carlin.
Cllr Carlin said she contacted the Executive following representations from local residents about the “squalid state” of the alleyway including constant illegal dumping, overgrown waste-ground and poor state of the footway.
Cllr Carlin said the Executive had “now committed” to addressing the issues.
She added: “As well as agreeing to undertake an immediate clean up of the area it is also committed to undertake resurfacing work of the waste ground area and the disintegrated foot-way and as well as the installation of additional bollards in an effort to reduce the problems which have been impacting negatively upon local resident.
Cllr Carlin concluded: “I have been told this work will be commencing very shortly and the news has been welcomed by local residents.”
