COMMUNITY ALERT: WARNING AFTER WATERSIDE BREAK-INS

burglarResidents on Limavady Road in the Waterside area of Derry have been called on “to be on alert” after break-ins at a number of homes in the area.

The call comes from Sinn Fein Cllr Christopher Jackson who appealed for anyone with information about the burglaries to contact the police.

Cllr Jackson said: “Thieves have no respect for you or your property; helping to catch them is the best way of safeguarding your own property and your neighbours.

“I would appeal to the public to practice vigilance in the area in an effort to catch those involved and prevent further break-ins.

“It also important that people make arrangements if they are heading off on their summer holidays to have a neighbour or family member to keep an eye on their house whilst they are away.”

Cllr Jackson concluded: “I would also appeal to anyone with information or who may have seen anything to pass this to the PSNI. People like this cannot be allowed to prey on our community.”
