Institute goalkeeper Nathan Gartside has joined SkyBet Championship in a deal believed to be a two year youth scholarship.
Gartside, a former pupil of Lisneal College, will continue with his education while at the London club, now managed Giuseppe Sannino.
The deal is understood to be similar to that of former ‘Stute midfielder Aaron McEneff had with Tottenham Hotspur before being awarded a professional contract with the Barclays Premiership club.
It’s expected the Drumahoe club will be duly compensated for their hard work in developing Gartside into the player he has become.
The youngster was full complimented Institute and his former team mates for helping achieve the transfer,
He said: “Stute have helped me a lot, from the youth coaches like Ian Harper, Robert Lynch and Kenny Hamilton, to the first team coaches such as goalkeeping coach Kevin McKinney.
“In fact, all the first team coaches and players like Michael Doherty and Paddy McLaughlin have been great in giving me advice.”

“Going to a club like Watford and having full-time quality training will also help my international career, but it also means a bigger step up for me, and it’s one I can’t wait for.”
