People living in the greater Ballyarnett area of Derry have been urged to have their say on the “future masterplan” for the Ballyarnett Country Park
Sinn Fein Cllr Tony Hassan has welcomed proposals in the masterplan which he said would create “something the entire community can be proud of.
Included in the proposals are play facilities, bio-diversity projects, walking and cycling routes.
Speaking after attending a meeting on the plans, he encouraged people to go along to “drop-in day” taking place this Tuesday between 2.00pm and 6.00pm in the Outer North Neighbour Partnership offices in Northside.
Cllr Hassan said: “The Ballyarnett Country Park can provide a wide range of opportunities and act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area.
“This is one of best assets this city has but has been under-utilised for many years.
“I believe it has nowhere reached its full potential yet, in providing parklands and facilities for residents in the local area and for the city as a whole.”
Cllr Hassan concluded: “It offers a real opportunity to build the foundation’s for the next five to ten years and put in place something the entire community can be proud of.”
