Derry runner Alan Bogle celebrated his call up for the Northern Ireland team for next month’s Snowdon International Mountain Race in Wales by claiming a top ten finish in the Dollar Mountain Race in Scotland at the weekend.
The City of Derry Spartan was the first of the Northern Irish contingent to cover the 9.4 mile course (which incorporated 3,150 feet of ascending) to clinch 10th place in 1.15.26.
The race was won by Mercia AC athlete Simon Bailey in 1.11.27.
The Scottish Hill Running Championships event was part of the British Fell Running Championships and featured a top quality field.
Bogle is one of four runners named in the men’s team by the Northern Ireland Mountain Racing Association (NIMRA) for the Snowdon International Mountain Race taking place on 19 July next.
