Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has met with the newly-appointed PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton who took up the post at the beginning of this week.
The senior Sinn Fein representative accompanied First Minister Peter Robinson at the meeting which took place in Parliament Buildings at Stormont.
Mr Hamilton replaced Matt Baggott who held the post from September 2009.
Speaking prior to the meeting, Mr McGuinness congratulated Mr Hamilton on being appointed Chief Constable.
He added: “I wish him every success in his efforts to ensure the fair and democratic implementation of policing in the north of Ireland.”
He also paid tribute to Mr Hamilton’s predecessor.
Mr McGuinness said: m“Matt Baggott has led the PSNI through a period of considerable change over recent years and I thank him for his efforts and wish him every success in the future.”
