Thomas McBride has rejoined Institute after brief spells away from the Riverside at League of Ireland club Finn Harps and neighbours Newbuildings United.
Manager Paul Kee has recruited the former Derry City midfielder to bolster his squad in the build up to their return to the Danske Bank Premiership.
Now, the ex-Northampton Town starlet has shown a glimpse of why he’s been called back by firing home a goal in his first returning game for the Babyblues as they defeated Oxford United Stars 6-0 at Wilton Park yesterday.
Speaking after the game McBride said he was “delighted” to be back at the club.
He added: “Delighted to be back at the club, I left prematurely last time around, but I’m returning now having matured, and I’m ready to put my head down and concentrate on playing football.”
“I’m also very happy to have gotten on the scoresheet today, it’s a good feeling to get a goal in my first match back, and more importantly for us to get a win on the back of that.”
“Every match is going to be a battle this season, the lads made the climb without me last year, and now I hope to work with everyone to keep this club in the Premiership.”
