Police came under attack during an overnight security alert in Strabane.
A number of paint bombs and masonary were thrown during the alert in the Ballycolman Estate in the town. No one was injured.
The alert has now ended after bomb disposal experts carried out two controlled explosions on a suspicious vehicle which had been abandoned next to a children’s play area in the estate several days earlier.
A PSNI spokesperson said “nothing untoward” was found.
Around 30 families who were evacuated from their homes during the incident were allowed to return at around 4.00am.
Those responsible for leaving the vehicle in the estate have been condemned by Michaela Boyle, West Tyrone Sinn MLA.
She said: “Whatever ‘squalid little activity’ those who left it there were involved in, little do they care for the disruption and anguish they have caused within this community.
“Local people are angry and rightly so.”
