The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire just missed out on a podium finish at the end of final leg of the 40,000 mile Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
The Derry Clipper was just five minutes behind third-placed OneDLL at the finish line off Southend earlier this evening.
The race was won GREAT Britain into its home port with Henri Lloyd in second place, its 11th podium place.
Tomorrow, thousands of spectators are exected to line the banks of the River Thames greet some of the 670 international amateur crew in a homecoming Parade of Sail which will conclude with Tower Bridge lifting for the top three teams at 12.45pm.
A total of 670 crew members from 42 different countries battled hurricanes, survived a tornado, dealt with medical evacuations and the miraculous rescue of Derry crew member Andrew Taylor who went overboard in the Pacific Ocean for 90 minutes.
