Following their historic 9-0 aggregate victory over Abersytwyth Town in the Europa League on Thursday, Derry City return to “bread and butter” league action this evening with an SSE Airtricity Premier Division clash against Bray Wanderers at Brandywell (kick off 5.00pm).
Sitting mid-table on 21 points with 18 games played and out of contention for a European qualifying spot in the league and relatively safe from relegation, one would expect Derry to go into this evening’s game with one eye firmly fixed on next Thursday’s Europa League second round qualifier first leg against Shaktar Soligorsk of Belarus.
But winning breeds confidence and that is what team boss Peter Hutton will be looking for.
Derry go into the clash with Bray undefeated in their last six games, a run that began following the heavy away league defeat by St Patrick’s Athletic on 30 May.
Meanwhile, as expected Derry’s SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture with Limerick FC on Friday next has been postponed due to the Brandywell club’s continued involvement in the Europa League.
The game, which was scheduled to take place at Thomand Park, was due to be played a day after City’s European clash with the Belarusian side.
A new date for the fixture has yet to be announced.
Tickets for Thursday’s Europa League game will be available from the Candystripes Store in Brandywell during today’s clash with Bray.
The tickets for the Shakhtyor game are priced at £15 adult and £10 Cconcessionary.
