Richard Burton (15) was best of the day at Prehen on Sunday, his 39 points giving him a long awaited victory in the Open Stableford that was played off the “white sticks.”
Second and third place were decided on a count back, Arthur O Hara’s (13) better back nine securing him second place ahead of Tony McDermott (12), both players recording 38 points.
Michael O’Hara (20), Arthur’s son, had only 14 points on his front nine but scored a remarkable 25 points on the back nine to take the junior prize.
McCourt’s Ace
Eamon McCourt (9) aced the eighth hole (The Crow’s Nest) in Sunday’s competition using his six iron and the feat was witnessed by Sean Coyle, James Desmond and Felix Healy.
With an opening birdie at the first he was three under par for those two holes.
Eamon claims he has now recorded no less than 14 “aces” in his career and wants to be included in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not.”
