JamesMcNallyTributes have been paid to James McNally, a former chairman and player with Ballinascreen GAC, who has died.

James, who died on Thursday last, had held the position of chairman and vice-chairman of St Colms GAC Ballinascreen for a number of years.

He played a leading role in the securing and development of the club’s second playing field and was instrumental in the construction of the extension to the stand.

During his tenure there were many other developments which he was responsible for.

All through his lifetime, James was a loyal Ballinascreen man, as a club member, player and administrator – and worked tirelessly and was totally committed to the development of the club.

The club has extended its heartfelt sympathy to James ‘s wife Teresa, his son Francis, daughters Joan, Eilish and Helen, his brothers and  sisters and the entire family circle.

Derry GAA has also paid tribute.

A spokesperson said: “James leaves behind a great legacy which will be of great benefit to the future generations for many years to come.

“Even during his illness James attended many games and functions and continued to support our club.

“Not only has Ballinascreen and Derry lost a great Gael, but the entire community has lost a person from whom we took great inspiration and he will be sadly missed by everyone.”
