Van torcedPolice are appealing for information following the theft of cars in the Dungiven area yesterday which were later found abandoned in Derry.

A grey Audi A4 was reported stolen from the Ardcairn area at approximately 9.50am.

It was later found in good condition parked in the Oakfield Mews area yesterday evening.

A Rover 75 was stolen from the Railway Lane area of Dungiven sometime between 9.30pm on Tuesday and 11.00am yesterday.

It was also later recovered in the Derry area with damage on it, suggesting it was involved in some sort of road traffic collision.

Meanwhile, police a looking at a possible link between the two thefts and the attempted break-in of a car in the Lackagh Park area in Dungiven in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Just before 1.30am, a male dressed in dark clothing made off empty-handed after he was disturbed attempting to break into a car at a house.

Two bicycles were also left behind that had been taken from another house in the area.

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone with information about any of the incidents to contact Limavady Police Station on the non emergency 101 telephone number.

Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
