The PSNI say they are concerned about the number of young people trying to get entry to local nightclubs from right across Northern Ireland using fake IDs.
Police and licensed premises staff seized around 30y fake IDs last month – almost one for every day.
A spokesman said: “Police want to keep people safe and the licensing laws are in place for a reason.
“Pubs and clubs are adult environments and under 18s who drink alcohol in those environments may become vulnerable.
“Using a fake ID is also a dishonesty offence and police have the power to prosecute.
“Police don’t want to have to use those powers against young people, but they will need to, given the increasing trends in using fake IDs.
“Please support us in keeping people safe.”
The spokesman asked anyone with information about those involved in the supplying of fake IDs is asked to contact police on the non-emergency 101 telephone number.
