CONCERN GROWS FOR DERRY MAN MISSING IN THAILAND

Missing: Matthew Boyle.

Missing: Matthew Boyle.

There are growing concerns for a Derry man who has gone missing in Thailand.

Matthew Boyle (37), who has been living in Bangkok for almost three years, usually is contact with his family two or three times a week – but they have not heard from him since 8 July.

Matthew, a former St Columb’s College student, went to Bangkok in September 2011 to work as a senior business analyst with a company called Asia Biogas.

In the summer of 2013 he and a colleague bought the SIP Winebar and later that year Matthew left Asia Biogas to run the bar on a full-time basis.

Until recently he was living in the Hotel Natural Ville in Langsuan Road in the commercial/financial part of the city.

Matthew’s cousin, Brian Melarkey, said his family had become very concerned.

Brian added: “His last contact with his parents was by phone on July 8 and since then they have been unable to contact him, either by phone, text, email or skype.

“Normally they would be in contact two or three times a week.’

Brian said enquiries made in Bangkok by acquaintances and the Irish Consulate had proved fruitless and the PSNI were currently carrying out a missing person investigation.
