Firefighters were called to deal with a blaze on the outskirts of the city this morning.
Over 150 car tyres and a number of wooden pallets had been set of fire at around noon at Bligh’s Lane close to its junction with Springhill Road.
Thick black smoke was visible over a wide area.
It is believed the material, which was concealed in shrubby, was being kept by young people for a bonfire on 15 August next.
Bligh’s Lane, which was closed for a period while firefighters tackled the blaze, has been reopened.
