Derry’s Shipquay Street is to be converted into a massive three-lane water slide this September in aid of charity.
Details of the “Slide On Cancer” event in the city on the weekend of 6-7 September were announced today.
The custom-built slide will be open from 10.00am-5.00pm on each day and will start at the top of the hill, ending at Shipquay Gate with a huge “splash zone.”

Over 5,000 people have already visited the “Slide On” Facebook page and Sharon Arbuckle, fundraising manager for Cancer Research said they were encouraged with the “unprecedented” public response they have had so far.
She added: “We’ve also had tremendous support from local traders in the Shipquay Street area and Derry City Council who are looking forward to what will undoubtedly be a fun and memorable event for everyone to enjoy.”
