FOUR POLICE OFFICERS INJURED IN COLLISION WITH STOLEN CAR

Van torcedFour police officers were injured in an overnight collision involving a stolen car.

A 26 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated taking and driving away, dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit, failing to stop and remaining the scene of an accident after a burglary at residential premises in the Manse area of Ballyarnett in Derry.

At around 11:50pm, it was reported  a Nissan Juke car parked close to a house in the area was stolen.

The car made off towards the Glenshane Road area.

Shortly before 00:35am, police saw and followed the vehicle, which then drove towards the Fallaghloon Road in the Maghera area.

As the car made its way into the area it colllided with two police cars.

The man then made off on foot but was arrested in the area a short time later.

Four police officers received minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The man is currently in police custody.
