Derry sprinter Jason Smyth has failed to make it through the heats of the 100 metres at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 27-year-old, from Eglinton, started strongly but faded off to finish fifth in a time of 10.66 behind winner Kemar Hyman who posted 10.20 in Hampden Park.
Jason, who is legally blind and a 100 and 200 metres gold medallist at the 2008 and 2012 at the Paralympic Games, will be back in the blocks again on Wednesday to compete in the 200 metres heats ahead of his involvement in the heats of the 4 x 100 metres relay on Friday.
