This is the scene on Derry’s Shipquay Street yesterday during a march held in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Demonstrators taking part in a march organised by the Derry Anti-War Coalition (DAWC) “lay dead” on the city centre thoroughfare to highlight the number of Palestinians who have been killed by Israeli rocket attacks.

Over 1,000 people took part in the march, which paraded from Waterside railway station to the Guildhall – the route of the 5 October, 1968 Civil Rights march in the city.

Earlier, the names of over 700 people known to have been killed by Israeli forces were placed around a day-long “peace camp” set up at the “Free Derry Wall.”
