Leo McGowan used the experience he gained representing North West Golf Club in the Ulster fourball tournament to return 39 points to take take first place in Saturdays Open Meal Deal at Lisfannon,
A modest 18 points on the front nine was followed by a blistering back nine of 21 points.
After a slight hiccup, when he only scored a point at the 12th and 13th holes, he dug deep and to score 14 points over the last five holes to win on a countback from the club’s honorary secretary Jimmy McFadden.
With 21 points secured on the front nine, Jimmy was on 38 points on the 18th tee, requiring a bogey to win.
However, a double bogey cost him dearly.
Seamus Bonner, after a mediocre 15 point on the front nine posted 23 points on the back nine, to take third place.
