Derry MLA Raymond McCartney was among a Sinn Fein delegation which met with republican prisoners in Magheraberry Prison.
Speaking after the visit, which also included a meeting with senior governors at the jail, Mr McCartney said it was part of the ongoing work being carried out by Sinn Féin to ensure prisoners were treated with “dignity and respect” in their daily regime, particularly during family visits.
Mr McCartney, Sinn Fein’s justice spokesperson, added: “It remains our belief that the agreement reached in August 2010 provides the basis on which all issues can be resolved in a meaningful way.
“We raised our concerns over controlled movement, visits and how these have a negative impact on a regime which should be based on dignity and respect.”
“Sinn Féin will continue in our efforts to have all these issues resolved and will not be deflected by baseless rhetoric.”
Mr McCartney said Sinn Fein would be seeking a meeting with Justice Minister, David Ford, to reinforce its views “on all these matters.”
The delegation also included Sinn Fein MLAs Jennifer McCann, Seán Lynch and Rosie McCorley.
