Police in Derry are urging everyone to secure their homes and vehicles.
The warning comes as the PSNI’s City West Neighbourhood Policing Team investigate a number the theft of a number of vehicles as well as theft from vehicles in the city.
In the most recent incidents, a Toyota was stolen at Fern Park in Galliagh and then burned out at Ballyarnett and a BMW was at Larcom Drive in Culmore.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Please to do not leave any valuables in your vehicles and keep your car keys hidden in your home.
“Your car keys are valuable; make sure you keep them safe.
“At night, ensure you keep them hidden in your house in a place that only you know.
“Thieves will go into your home for keys.”
The spokesperson said anyone you wished to speak to police about crime prevention advice should telephone the non-emergency 101 number.
